SUDDENLY we're all set

Postby Thezdin » 12/11/2009 12:20pm

Still a few quirks to iron out with the posting form, sidebar modules, and the flash players, but that will be done shortly.

If you notice anything not working correctly with the forums please let me know directly.

Monday 12/14/2009 - Everything is now working correctly. In the next day or two we'll update the remainder of the new theme.

12:30 PM CST - Most everything is up and running correctly. Still need to update emoticons and a few minor things most people will probably not even notice.

IF YOU NOTICE THE WEBSITE SUDDENLY DIES, CHECK YOUR URL AND YOU PROBABLY HAVE "WWW" - THE DNS SETTINGS ARE NOT ENTIRELY UPDATED YET, SO SIMPLY REMOVE "WWW." FROM THE URL AND REFRESH, AND IT WILL WORK.

Thanks everyone :)

I don't know about anyone else, but the new server is leaps and bounds better for me using the site. Do you guys notice an improvement?

The load times / ect are a lot faster for me. Since my computer and internet are really shitty, it was pretty bad for me, but it is pretty damn smooth now.

I didn't have much problem with the older server but this is noticeably faster for me.

I had issues with the last server, but this one is (so far) loading faster and not getting hung up on loading a new page when i click into new forums or topics.

He may be talking about the icons in "stealth mode". I had the same issue, cant see posts that have updates on them like you can in the full mode.

Yeah because every image is hidden in stealth mode. I can throw the forum icons back on, but I figured that would defeat the purpose of stealth mode. Thoughts?

Hmmm. Stealth mode doesn't seem quite as stealthy in general now. maybe it is the menu bar down the left hand side, maybe its the colors, idk. So without the icons to show updated posts, I would probably just keep it in regular mode.

I personally liked the icons on the old stealth mode because i could do a fast scan and get back to work if nothing was there. I'm not married to icons, but if there was something that could be used to flag the updated/new posts, beyond the "last updated" date stamp, I think that would be usefull.

I believe he's talking about there's nothing that labels the POST as unread, only the THREAD as having unread posts in it. I don't think it has anything to do with stealth mode (i've never used it), because it is in the normal view.

i really dont know how to make it more clear
you can tell when the thread has a new post because the icon glows
once you click on the thread, you cannot see which posts are new and which ones you have alread seen. the old forums had a red mark next to the new posts in the thread.

Is there any way of being able to jump to the post in forum activity like it was before?
